What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin text based on Cicero's "De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" from 45 BC. Designers and developers have used it as dummy text since the 1500s because it looks like natural language but does not distract readers with meaningful content. That makes it easier to judge layout, typography and spacing.
